Avelo Airlines extends 8 flights through the end of the year at Concord airport
Avelo Airlines is extending its flight schedule at Concord-Padgett Regional Airport just a few months after opening a new base of operations in the Charlotte area.
The Houston-based, low-cost carrier announced Wednesday that it will continue its service through Jan. 5 for passengers. The airline has served more than 230,000 customers on more than 2,000 flights since arriving in Cabarrus County in 2024.
“It’s the perfect time for travelers to get a head start on booking their holiday vacations or weekend getaways,” Trevor Yealy, Avelo Airlines Head of Commercial, said in a statement.
Yealy has previously highlighted the Concord airport’s convenience was a major draw for travelers and alternative to Charlotte Douglas International Airport.
Avelo offers nonstop service to: Albany, New York; Cleveland, Ohio; Indianapolis, Indiana; New Haven, Connecticut; Rochester, New York; New York/Long Island; Lakeland/Orlando, Florida; and San Juan, Puerto Rico.
The carrier solidified its long-term commitment to the Charlotte region following an announcement of a recapitalization and restructuring plan in January. Avelo closed its bases at Wilmington and Raleigh-Durham, but redirected those resources to a Concord expansion.
As part of that plan, Avelo expanded its local fleet to three aircraft, replacing the 149-seat Boeing aircraft with larger 189-seat models.
The airline is the third to operate out of Concord-Padgett, and joins Allegiant Air and Sun Country Airlines in utilizing the single-runway facility.
The Concord airport opened in 1994 and was renamed in 2018 to honor former Mayor Scott Padgett.
