Charlotte-based Lat Purser & Associates plans to raze the small building at 4500 Park Road, currently home to a beauty salon called Shapes, to make way for a new multi-tenant retail building.
Lat Purser, the firm’s senior vice president, said two new retailers will occupy the 4,500-square-foot building and the salon will “likely not” be one of them.
Shapes has been made aware of the construction, Purser added. It’s not clear where the salon’s new location will be. Shapes couldn’t immediately be reached for comment.
Though Purser said it’s too early to say who the new retail tenants will be, he did that “it’s not a bar. We’re not adding to that Montford bar scene.” The property is just across the street from popular Montford hotspots Angry Ale’s and Duckworth’s.

Depending on the permitting process, Purser said, construction should start in November. Carmel Contractors is handling construction of the project.
Lat Purser & Associates, founded in Charlotte, develops commercial and residential properties mainly in urban areas. The developer also recently said it plans to upfit an old fire station on South Boulevard, add parking and use the building for office and retail.
