Construction to start soon on Holiday Inn in Ballantyne

OHM Hotels will soon break ground on a Holiday Inn Express & Suites hotel in Ballantyne.

The 123-room, four-story hotel at Johnston Road and Providence Road West is expected to open in late 2016, according to a statement from Matthews-based OHM this week.

Hotel amenities include a business center, fitness center, outdoor swimming pool and 1,300 square feet of flexible meeting space.

An exact start date for construction was not immediately available.

Addition of the hotel is part of the 13-acre mixed-use development called Colinayre, led by York Development Group of Charlotte. The rest of the development will include a possible bank, retail, grocery store, hotel and office space.

“The Ballantyne market is a great fit for the Holiday Inn Express brand due to our hotel’s convenient location near Ballantyne Corporate Park with over 5 million square feet of Class A Office space and still growing,” said Alkesh Patel, OHM’s chief executive officer.
