Top Workplaces in Charlotte
Red Ventures, Wyndham Capital Mortgage and Consolidated Planning Inc. are the Charlotte region’s Top Workplaces for 2015.
The winners were announced Wednesday evening at an event at the Mint Museum Uptown.
It’s the Charlotte Observer’s first Top Workplaces report, conducted with WorkplaceDynamics, a Pennsylvania-based survey firm that surveyed almost 2 million employees at workplaces nationwide last year.
For our Observer report, 764 employers participated, and 50 made the top list.
Here’s more on the top three winners:
▪ Indian Land, S.C.-based Red Ventures, tops in the Large company category, is a marketing and sales company that has grown from a handful of employees to more than 2,300 since launching in 2000. Red Ventures associates enjoy perks such as the annual company team-building trip to Cancun, Mexico. Red Ventures is known for a flat organizational structure and staffers’ access to senior management.
▪ Wyndham Capital Mortgage, a Charlotte lender founded in 2001, is the first-place winner in the Midsize company category. Employees are encouraged to recognize their colleagues for their work. Wyndham holds employee functions at fun venues such as the U.S. National Whitewater Center or Park 10 Lanes. The company also sponsors health-themed programs at the local YMCA.
▪ Consolidated Planning Inc., a financial planning firm, is the No. 1 employer in the Small company division. Since the company doesn’t advertise, its goal is 100 percent referrals for new business. Also important: creating a company culture where employees can perform at their best. “We treat each other like family,” says James Mathis, director of community affairs.
