Sealed Air acquires Scottish water-free lubrication supplier
Charlotte-based Sealed Air has acquired Dry Lube Ltd. and its subsidiary Dry Lube Inc., a water-free conveyor lubrication technology and service provider for the food and beverage industry that is based in Edinburgh, U.K.
The acquisition closed in early December and is not material to Sealed Air’s financial results, the company said in a statement Friday. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
For the majority of beverage companies, 20 percent of their water usage is related to lubrication and cleaning, said Karl Deily, president of Sealed Air’s food care division. Dry Lube’s products enable brewing, beverage and dairy companies to lubricate their conveyor belts without the use of water.
“Combined with our existing expertise, Dry Lube enables us to further reduce water usage and treatment costs, create cleaner and safer working environments, and improve operational efficiencies,” Deily added.
Dry Lube sells directly to customers in the U.S. and Europe and through distribution to the rest of the world.
Sealed Air, maker of Bubble Wrap, divides its business into three categories: food care, product care and Diversey Care. The company broke ground on its Charlotte headquarters in the LakePoint Corporate Center in June, and by the time the company finishes moving into the new offices in 2017, it expects to have a workforce of 1,262, with local hires comprising about half.
