Local CEOs ranked among country’s top leaders of mid-cap companies

Four local chief executive officers have been ranked among the country’s top leaders of mid-cap companies: CommScope’s Eddie Edwards, Ally Financial’s Jeffrey Brown, Premier’s Susan DeVore and Carlisle’s David Roberts.

ExecRank uses an algorithmic analysis of performance across 24 areas to rank leaders of companies with market caps from $2 billion to $10 billion. The No. 1 area of focus was the CEO’s ability to increase profit margins and deliver high returns on equity and investments at their companies, ExecRank said in a statement this week.

Edwards, CEO of Hickory-based cable maker CommScope, was ranked No. 6, while DeVore, CEO of Charlotte-based health solutions company Premier, was ranked No. 63.

Brown is the Charlotte-based CEO of auto lender Ally Financial, which is based in Detroit. He was named No. 39.

Roberts is the current CEO of Charlotte-based manufacturer Carlisle Cos., though he will move on from the CEO role Jan. 1 to become the company’s executive chairman of the board. ExecRank ranked him No. 349.

In all, 400 CEOs were ranked. The list was dominated by the top executives at Rite Aid, Buffalo Wild Wings, Restoration Hardware and GoPro.
