Drivers in the Carolinas continue to enjoy savings at the pump thanks to cheap gas prices that keep falling.

In the Charlotte region, the average price of a gallon of unleaded gasoline dropped 5 cents over the week, according to auto group AAA. Average prices per gallon in both North Carolina and South Carolina have also fallen 5 cents since last week.

The U.S. average price dropped 8 cents over the week. Fuel costs keep falling, AAA has said, because the global supply of oil continues to exceed the demand for it. Demand for gas tends to wane during colder months and rise again when the weather heats up.

Below are average local and national gas prices as of early Tuesday. AAA surveys 120,000 stations nationwide to determine average prices.
