Charlotte’s airport is on pace for another record year.
From last January through November, 41,203,597 passengers used Charlotte Douglas International Airport, officials said Monday. That’s up 1.5 percent from the same time period last year.
The airport will break 2014’s record of 44.3 million passengers if December’s numbers hold up. The final tally will be released in February.
Charlotte Douglas oversaw 498,872 takeoffs and landings through November, making it the sixth busiest airport in the nation for aircraft movements. By passengers, Charlotte Douglas ranks eighth.

As American Airlines’ second-busiest hub, behind Dallas/Fort Worth, the majority of the airport’s passengers are connecting from one flight to another. About 80 percent of passengers at Charlotte Douglas are switching planes, rather than starting or stopping their trips in Charlotte.
Although passenger numbers are up, the number of international travelers dipped slightly as American trimmed its international schedule from Charlotte. Through November, 2.6 million international travelers came through Charlotte Douglas, down about 3 percent.
