Sealed Air appoints new Charlotte-based executive
Charlotte-based Sealed Air has named Edwina Payne as its new vice president and chief information officer. She will relocate with her family from Warsaw, Ind., where she worked at Zimmer Biomet, a medical devices manufacturer.
Payne will be responsible for implementing Sealed Air’s information systems strategy to improve the company’s profitability through new technology, Sealed Air said in a statement Monday. She will report to Carol Lowe, senior vice president and chief financial officer.
“Edwina’s depth of experience in leading global IT organizations and implementing new business models will be integral to our commitment to deliver disruptive innovation to our customers,” said Sealed Air’s President and Chief Executive Officer Jerome Peribere.
As CIO at Zimmer Biomet, Payne led the company’s successful IT integration, Sealed Air said. She also has held various roles at Johnson & Johnson’s DePuy Orthopeadics medical devices unit, as well as at Kellogg Co.
Payne holds a bachelor’s degree from Purdue University and is fluent in Spanish and Portuguese.
Sealed Air is the Fortune 500 company that is well-known as the maker of Bubble Wrap. Previously based in New Jersey, Sealed Air broke ground on its Charlotte headquarters in June in the LakePoint Corporate Center, near Charlotte Douglas International Airport. It currently employs approximately 500 people there. By the time the company finishes moving into its new corporate offices in 2017, it expects to have a workforce of 1,262, with local hires comprising about half.
