Charles “Wick” Moorman, former chairman and CEO of Norfolk Southern, will join Charlotte-based Duke Energy’s board of directors, effective Tuesday.
Moorman will serve on Duke’s nuclear oversight committee, the company said Monday.
“(Moorman’s) experience and strategic insights will be invaluable in helping us deliver results for our customers, shareholders and communities,” Duke Energy CEO Lynn Good said in a statement.
Moorman, 64, joined Norfolk Southern in 1970 and held various executive positions throughout his career, including in human resources, labor relations and information technology. He served as the rail company’s chief executive officer from 2005-2015, and as executive chairman from 2006 until his retirement last year.
Moorman is a graduate of Georgia Tech and Harvard Business School.
