Duke Energy names new fossil/hydro chief
Duke Energy has named senior vice president Regis Repko as its chief fossil/hydro officer, replacing the retiring Charlie Gates.
Repko, who has worked for Duke since 1985, will be responsible for fossil-fueled and hydroelectric power plants in six states starting April 1. His promotion comes as Duke shifts its fossil fuel mix from coal toward cleaner burning and cheaper natural gas.
Trained as a nuclear engineer, Repko now oversees nuclear governance, projects and engineering, and previously was Duke’s senior vice president for nuclear operations. He’s chair of the Academy Council of the National Academy for Nuclear Training.
