Duke Energy buys proposed Calif. solar project
Duke Energy Renewables has bought the development assets of a proposed 20-megawatt solar farm in California.
Duke didn’t announce the terms of its purchase of the Longboat solar project from EDF Renewable Energy. The farm will be built in San Bernardino County near Barstow and is expected to start generating electricity late this year.
The energy will be sold to Southern California Edison under a 20-year agreement.
The purchase gives Duke Renewables seven solar farms in California totaling 130 megawatts. The unit has also invested in two California companies that specialize in solar and energy management systems.
