Charlotte-based snackmaker Snyder’s-Lance said Mark Carter, vice president and investor relations officer, will retire mid-April. He will be succeeded by Kevin Powers, who comes from Charlotte’s Premier Inc. and will serve as the senior director of investor relations.
Both Carter and Powers will co-lead the investor program as the transition progresses over the next several weeks, Snyder’s-Lance said Thursday.
Carter’s held a handful of executive leadership roles in mergers and acquisitions, strategic initiatives and investor relations at Snyder’s-Lance over the years. Most recently, he worked on the company’s acquisition of California snack maker Diamond Foods.
Powers previously served as the director of investor relations at the health solutions company Premier since 2014. Before that, he was manager and then director of investor relations at Matthews-based Family Dollar. He was an associate of investor relations at Elan Pharmaceuticals from 2006-2011.
Snyder’s-Lance, known for Hanover’s pretzels and Lance peanut butter sandwich crackers, formed when Charlotte-based Lance Inc. merged with pretzel maker Snyder’s of Hanover in 2010. The publicly traded company employs about 1,500 in Charlotte.
