Carowinds water park ranked among top 10 to visit in 2016
Carowinds’ Carolina Harbor has made Fodor’s list of the 10 Best Water Parks to visit in 2016.
The Fort Mill, S.C., amusement park announced the expanded and rebranded water park, formerly called Boomerang Bay, last August, and it is expected to open in May.
It’ll be the largest water park in the Carolinas, surpassing Wet’n Wild in Greensboro.
Carolina Harbor includes six-story waterslide complex, a kids’ water playground with a 423-gallon tipping bucket and a restaurant with two 2,400-square-foot outdoor patios. The water park’s footprint has grown by several acres into the space vacated by the Thunder Road wooden roller coaster, which closed last summer.
Admission for the water park will continue to be included in regular park admission, Carowinds has said.
Other top water parks to visit include Water Country USA in Virginia, Delgrosso’s Amusement Park in Pennsylvania, and Holiday World & Splashin’ Safari in Indiana, according to Fodor’s, the travel and tourism information publisher.
