Jose Costa, a group president at Charlotte-based Driven Brands, has been awarded the Executive of the Year Bronze Stevie Award in the 14th Annual American Business Awards, which recognize outstanding performance in the workplace.

Costa, who oversees Maaco, Carstar and Drive N Style, was nominated in the automotive and transport equipment industry for his role in helping steer Driven Brands “to one of the most successful periods in its history,” the company said in a recent statement.

That includes reshaping the company’s growth strategy through acquisitions, including that of Carstar U.S. and Carstar Canada, a network of independently owned collision and glass repair centers, the company added.

More than 3,400 nominations from organizations of all sizes and across multiple industries were submitted. The award will be presented at a gala ceremony on June 20 at the Marriott Marquis Hotel in New York.

Costa assumed his current role in October. Prior to that, he was president of Maaco, where he managed and developed 500 auto body shops across the U.S. and Canada, Driven Brands said.

Driven Brands, a portfolio company of Roark Capital, is the parent company of a family of automotive companies that also includes Econo Lube N’ Tune.
