Electrolux donated more than $250,000 worth of room air conditioners on Monday and Tuesday to the Crisis Assistance Ministry in Charlotte to distribute to low-income families and individuals in the area.

The Swedish appliance maker, which has its North American headquarters in Charlotte, has regularly made the summer-time donations.

“With the summer’s extreme temperatures, air conditioning is a necessity,” said Nolan Pike, Senior Vice President of North American Product Lines. “Going without air conditioning can be life threatening, and we hope this donation will make a difference in the lives of many.”

Electrolux, which sells air conditioning units under its Frigidaire brand, manufactures cooking, laundry, dishwashers, refrigerators and freezer products in its eight North American factories.

In 2015, the company had sales of $14.7 billion ($5.1 billion in North America) and 58,000 employees.
