Charlotte-based Premier Inc. names new general counsel

Charlotte-based healthcare company Premier Inc. named David Klatsky general counsel on Friday.

Klatsky was previously Premier’s chief outside counsel where he helped the company with its initial public offering and corporate restructure.

He is replacing Jeffery Lemkin, who recently retired, and will oversee Premier’s legal and compliance affairs.

“David’s deep healthcare industry insights and experience with Premier are valuable assets to our executive team,” Premier CEO Susan DeVore said in a statement.

Before joining Premier, Klatsky was a partner in the health practice group at the law firm McDermott Will & Emery LLP. He has a bachelor’s degree from Brown University and a J.D. from the UCLA School of Law.

Premier is a health care solutions company that went public in 2013. It employs about 1,700 people, with about 60 percent of them based in Charlotte.

The company recently announced that it will acquire a specialty pharmacy business from Florida-based Lincare Holdings. The $75 million acquisition is projected to close by or before Sept. 30.
