Amazon looks to expand Charlotte presence

Amazon is looking to fill a number of positions in Charlotte as it expands a new receiving center in west Charlotte.

Property records show the facility at 10240 Old Dowd Road is nearly 400,000 square feet. The building is undergoing extensive renovations for Amazon, including the addition of a conveyer platform, routing and storage systems and equipment, records show.

An Amazon spokesman declined to provide further details. Amazon’s website shows nine open positions in Charlotte.

The Seattle-based e-commerce giant also has distribution center in Concord, where it employs about 360 people.

Earlier this spring, Amazon expanded its free same-day delivery service to Prime account holders in 11 new metro areas, including Charlotte.
