Bank of America ending drive-up teller service at Beatties Ford Road branch
Bank of America said it will end drive-up teller operations at another branch in Charlotte as the lender continues to slash the service nationwide.
The Charlotte-based bank says it will discontinue the service at its 2249 Beatties Ford Road branch on July 6. It joins other branches in Charlotte where the bank has cut drive-up lanes, a move the bank attributes to declining demand for the service.
Bank of America spokeswoman Nicole Nastacie said the bank will continue to provide 24-hour access to a drive-up automated teller machine at the Beatties Ford Road branch.
Bank of America continues to get rid of drive-up teller service at some branches at a time when lenders nationwide are reporting rising customer adoption of mobile banking and ATM use.
As more of their customers conduct transactions on smartphones and other devices, banks see less need to staff branches with as many tellers as they have traditionally.
Bank of America has also announced it will end Saturday hours at its branch at 1530 Providence Road South in Waxhaw on July 6. Nastacie said customers will be able to use a drive-up ATM and a walk-up ATM at that branch on Saturdays.
Bank of America is changing the schedules at some of its branches as it adapts to changing customer behavior, Nastacie said.
