Wells Fargo says its signs near Minnesota Vikings stadium are fine
Wells Fargo says the signs mounted on its new towers near the Minnesota Vikings stadium are within its rights under contract and do not need to be removed.
In court documents filed Friday, Wells Fargo says its agreement with the Vikings doesn’t bar the signs, which will be illuminated and sit atop two 17-story towers.
The Vikings sued Wells Fargo last month saying they want the signs covered because they permanently photo bomb the new U.S. Bank Stadium. The Star Tribune reports (http://strib.mn/1Re6jwf) that Wells Fargo attorneys say the Vikings' position belies common sense because a sign is made to be seen.
U.S. Bank has paid the Vikings undisclosed millions to put its name on the new stadium, which is set to open in August for the 2016 NFL season.
Wells Fargo is based in San Francisco, but has large employment hubs in Minneapolis, Charlotte and other cities.
