Take our poll: Which idea should Charlotte pick for new Eastland Yards site?
As dirt moves on the site of the former Eastland Mall to make room for housing, Charlotte City Council members are preparing to pick the rest of the property’s fate.
On Monday afternoon, the city’s economic development committee will hear revamped proposals from three developers and at least one new proposal for the east Charlotte site, rebranded as Eastland Yards. Details about all four known proposals are included in the story below the poll.

The four known proposals are:
▪ A 13-acre aquatics center with three pools proposed by Charlotte-based Bucci Development that would fit up to 2,500 seats. Developers said the $50 million project would require $35 million to $45 million in public funding.
▪ Nonprofit Carolina Serves submitted a revised proposal to the city April 27 reducing its public funding request from $45 million to $28 million, according to a news release. The nonprofit’s vision includes a racket sports facility with 60 public courts with predominantly clay surfaces.
▪ Retailer giant Target has proposed building a 148,000-square-foot store on the Eastland Yards site on 11-13 acres. The $35 million includes no request for government money.
▪ Committee members are expected to hear a proposal Monday from new development group QC East composed of a trio of Charlotte businesses. The $83 million proposal for a gaming, athletic and concert venue includes a request for $30 million.
