New Amazon delivery station to create hundreds of jobs near Charlotte, company says

Amazon is opening another order processing site in the Charlotte area.

Amazon Logistics has signed a lease to open a new delivery station in Concord, which will create hundreds of jobs, company spokeswoman Ashley Lansdale said.

The new station will help speed up deliveries for customers in the Charlotte metro area, she said. Delivery stations prepare orders for the last-mile delivery to customers, according to the company.

The site is going in the 400 block of Goodman Road near Poplar Tent Road and Interstate 85.

Amazon said delivery stations create hundreds of full time and part-time jobs, paying a minimum of $15 per hour. Lansdale would not say the total number of jobs the facility would bring to Concord.

Four other delivery stations are planned to open this year in Cary, Durham, Kernersville and Mills River.

Delivery stations also allow people to deliver Amazon packages with flexible scheduling, according to Amazon.

It has 150 delivery stations in the U.S., including three others in North Carolina, in Charlotte, Durham and Greensboro.

The Seattle-based e-commerce giant has five fulfillment centers in Charlotte. Since the novel coronavirus pandemic, Amazon has hired nearly 6,400 people, including more than 5,400 in Charlotte, according to company information.
