Sportswear company makes NC debut blocks away from competitor Lululemon in South End

Outdoor Voices, a Lululemon athletic apparel competitor, is openings its first store in North Carolina just blocks away in Charlotte’s South End.

Outdoor Voices opened Sept. 23 at 100 W. Worthington Ave. near the rail trail, the company said. Prices for the sportswear brand range from $58 to $118 for women’s leggings and men’s shorts and sweatpants, for example, according to the company’s website.

Here are four other things to know about the Outdoor Voices and the new 1,429-square-foot store:

Inside, the walls have curved edges like clouds and colors reference the sky.

Outdoor Voices touts itself as a sustainable brand using alternative recycled and ethically-sourced fabrics, as well as packaging such as reusable totes instead of plastic bags.

Charlotte store hours are 10 a.m.-7 p.m. Monday-Saturday and 11 a.m.-6 p.m. Sunday.

The Texas-based clothing company, founded nine years ago, has 14 stores throughout the U.S. in markets like New York City, Los Angeles, Dallas and Boston. Two more locations are planned in Philadelphia and Minneapolis.

Company officials did not respond to a request for comment from The Charlotte Observer.

The popular yoga-inspired sportswear brand Lululemon, based in Vancouver, Canada, has 11 stores in North Carolina, including four in the Charlotte area at Atherton Mill in South End, SouthPark mall, Blakeney Town Center on Rea Road, and Birkdale Village in Cornelius.
