Broad River Retail will invest over $4 million to open a two-in-one Ashley Furniture retail store in the Charlotte region.
Broad River Retail will open its 32nd Ashley furniture store at 815 E. Innes St. in Salisbury, the company said in a news release. Broad River Retail is an independently owned and operated Ashley Store licensee based in Fort Mill, S.C.
The dual-concept Ashley will include a traditional and outlet store in part of a former Kmart, Broad River Retail said. The store is expected to open next spring.

The news comes just weeks after Ashley Furniture Industries, based in Wisconsin, announced 117 layoffs as it closed its Statesville distribution center to consolidate operations at its manufacturing plant in Advance, The Charlotte Observer previously reported. Many of the employees accepted new jobs in Advance.
