Mecklenburg health clinics offer new COVID booster shots. How to make an appointment
People eligible to get the latest COVID-19 booster shot can receive their vaccine from two Charlotte-area clinics through Mecklenburg County Public Health, the county announced.
The push comes as county health officials say just 3% of Mecklenburg County residents have received the latest booster, which is designed to provide enhanced protection against the Omicron BA.4 and BA.5 subvariants.
Both strains are highly contagious, experts say, and account for a significant portion of COVID cases in recent months across the country.

Mecklenburg County Public Health is now offering the new bivalent booster, as well as “ primary series vaccines,” at two area clinics:

Southeast Health Department building, 249 Billingsley Road
Both clinics are open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Tuesday and Thursday through Friday. They’re also open from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Wednesdays.
You can make an appointment ahead of time online or by calling 980-314-9400, the county said in a statement.
Walk-ins are also welcome, the county adds, “during business hours.”
COVID vaccines are also available through area health care providers and pharmacies.
What about flu shots?
It is safe to get your COVID booster shot and your flu shot at the same time, the CDC advises.
If you’re getting the bivalent booster at a county clinic, the county notes, you can get your flu shot at the same time.
“Just ask when you arrive for your COVID-19 vaccine appointment,” the county says.
You can also get a flu vaccine from your primary care provider or many pharmacies in the Charlotte area.
