Rockwell man charged with murder of Richfield man

Rowan County Sheriff's investigators arrested a man Friday in connection with the murder of a Richfield man whose decomposed body was found by hunters a week ago.

Jessie Gary Rhodes, 35, of Rockwell, was in Rowan County Detention Center without bond, charged with the murder of James Michael Beam, 57, of Richfield, who was reported missing in April.

Hunters near Beam’s house found his skeletal remains.
