Person shot, seriously injured near Carowinds amusement park

One person was taken to the hospital after being shot near Carowinds Monday afternoon.

The incident happened around 7:30 p.m. near the park on the 14500 block of Carowinds Boulevard. It is not clear if the shooting happened on park property.

Officials have not released many details, but Medic said one person was taken from the scene with very serious injuries. That person’s name and age have not been released.

Police have not said what may have led to the shooting or if anyone was taken into custody.
