Crazed raccoon attacks dog in downtown Cramerton
A raccoon that attacked a dog in downtown Cramerton on Sunday tested positive for rabies, Gaston County police said Wednesday.
A homeowner near North Main Street reported the attack on his dog, police said.
Gaston County Police Animal Care and Enforcement workers impounded and processed the raccoon for rabies testing, and a state lab confirmed the animal had the disease. It was the third rabies case of the year in the county.
