Duke Energy named to Dow Jones Sustainability Index

Duke Energy has been named again to the Dow Jones Sustainability Index for North America.

Duke, which made the list for the 11th consecutive year, was among four electric utilities selected among the 16 on the continent that were evaluated.

The annual index selects top companies in each business sector based on topics including corporate governance, innovation management, environmental policy, climate strategy and corporate citizenship.

Duke’s own annual sustainability index touts its 28 percent drop in carbon emissions since 2005, sharp reductions in other air pollutants, investments in solar and wind energy, energy-efficiency programs and $48.6 million in charity giving in 2015.
