Pedestrian killed by train in Belmont

A train struck and killed a pedestrian in Belmont on Sunday.

The identity of the victim was being withheld pending notification of family, Belmont police said.

At about 1 p.m. Sunday, police and emergency workers responded to a call about the accident at the 5th Street Extension between Brook Street and Vine Street.

The victim was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.
