Suspect charged in case of woman who awoke to masked robber in bedroom
An Indian Trail man has been charged after Union County woman awoke Thursday to find masked robber standing in her bedroom, said the Union County Sheriff’s Department.
Tyler James Greco, 22, is charged with a series of crimes connected to the incident, which occurred Sept. 8 at a residence in the Villages of Wesley Chapel neighborhood, officials said. The victim told deputies she was awakened about 1:40 p.m. Thursday by the suspect, who assaulted her. He allegedly then took items from her home, including firearms, the victim told police.
A woman was with the suspect, she said, and both took her vehicle for their getaway.
Union County deputies say they located the victim’s vehicle abandoned a short distance away and the victim was able to identify the male suspect as Greco.
He is charged with second degree kidnapping, robbery with a dangerous weapon, assault by pointing a gun, assault inflicting injury, breaking and entering, larceny of a firearm, and motor vehicle theft.
Investigators are continuing to search for the woman who accompanied the suspect.
