Gastonia home shooting believed to be self defense, victim is identified

Gastonia Police say the shooting of a man found in a home Monday evening at 1179 Modena Street was self-defense.

Detectives say they got a call at 8:21 p.m. at the home just north of Interstate 85 and found a man who had been shot inside the residence and was unresponsive.

The victim was identified as Steven M. Patterson., 47, 1179 N. Modena Street.

Detectives say the shooter was firing in self-defense and are not looking for a suspect. The case is still under investigation.
