Concord Fire unit responds to wreck, finds car in pond with driver still inside
The Concord Fire Department responded to a traffic accident Friday morning and learned that one of the two vehicles involved was submerged in a pond with the driver waiting patiently inside for help.
Concord officials say they got the call Friday at 11:23 a.m. Friday, to 1085 Northeast Gateway Court.
“While responding, units were notified that the accident involved two vehicles, and one was possibly submerged in water with one person still inside,” said a statement from Concord officials. “Fire units quickly entered the water and pulled the driver to safety.”
The second vehicle involved in the accident was parked nearby, on dry land, officials said.
Cabarrus County EMS transported the driver to Carolinas Medical Center-Northeast for observation. The condition of the drivers involved was not released.
A total of 12 firefighters responded to the call, including Cabarrus County EMS, Concord Police Department and Kannapolis Fire Department. Concord Police are still investigating the accident.
