Vice President Joe Biden’s visit will bring traffic delays, police said

Commuters can expect traffic backups Wednesday evening when Vice President Joe Biden flies into Charlotte for a two-day visit, and again Friday morning when he departs.

Police issued an alert Wednesday morning for commuters to expect delays, but haven’t yet announced the hours that backups could occur.

Drivers on roads surrounding the airport can also expect delays, police said.

Biden and Transportation Secretary Anthony Foxx will visit Charlotte on Thursday morning to tout the need for investing in the nation’s infrastructure.

They’re scheduled to hold an event at 10 a.m. at Extravaganza Depot, a reception hall on North Tryon Street just outside uptown.

The two also plan to visit Charleston and Columbia on their Grow America tour.
