Lincoln County woman charged as accessory in child sexual assaults

Lincoln County investigators have charged a second person with child sexual assaults they say took place from 2005 to 2009.

Beverly Kistler Sherbert, 43, of Davis Road in Lincolnton was charged Monday with the felony of being an accessory after the fact of a felony and with common-law obstruction of justice, a misdemeanor.

Investigators say Sherbert knew a juvenile was being victimized but did not report it, and encouraged the victim by text messages to drop the charges.

Scott Allen Sherbert, 47, of the same address was charged Sept. 28 with two felony counts of taking indecent liberties with a minor. The victim and both suspects are related.

Beverly Sherbert was released on a $10,000 unsecured bond.
