Monroe’s water resources department will close Lake Lee, Lake Monroe and Lake Twitty on Nov. 1 until spring.
Oct. 31 will be the last day of fishing and boating for the season.
Monroe city lakes are open seasonally from about March 1 to Nov. 1 each year. While the lakes are closed, no fishing, boating or other activities are allowed on the lakes.
The city must comply with N.C. Department of Environmental Quality drinking water regulations in operating the lakes, since they are classified for use as drinking water supply sources.
