Two Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police officers were injured following a Tuesday morning accident on Interstate 485 in Charlotte, CMPD said.
Initial reports from the N.C. Highway Patrol had indicated one officer and one civilian were injured.
CMPD described what happened:
At about 9 a.m. Tuesday, two officers were investigating an accident on the outer loop of I-485 between W.T. Harris Boulevard and Beatties Ford Road. Their vehicle and the one in the accident were parked on the side of the road.
Soon after, a vehicle in the far left lane began to spin was struck by a tractor-trailer. Then the vehicle hit the officers’ car and knocked it over an embankment.
Both officers were in their car at the time, and had non-life-threatening injuries.
They were taken by Medic to Carolinas Medical Center, where they are being evaluated.
There have been numerous accidents on area roads around Charlotte Tuesday as snow fell in the region.
