Driver dies in single-vehicle wreck on I-85

A truck driver died when he ran off Interstate 85 northbound in Charlotte and crashed early Saturday.

Troopers believe Mitchell Smith, 58, lost control after running off the road between the Billy Graham Parkway and Freedom Drive exits. The truck flipped, and Mitchell was ejected. He was pronounced dead at the scene. Mitchell was alone in the truck.
