Belmont’s Main Street named among best in NC

Belmont’s Main Street has been recognized as a “Great Main Street” by the North Carolina chapter of the American Planning Association’s Great Places Initiative.

Belmont’s nomination highlighted the role its Main Street plays as a center of vibrant activity that includes a thriving business community, the reuse of a former general store and a department store, family-friendly entertainment and active living – all while retaining its “small town” feel.

Besides being featured on the GreatPlacesNC.org and the N.C. Chapter of the American Planning Association websites, Belmont and other winners will be given marketing materials to use in their business and economic development efforts.

Belmont also will receive an award at a special presentation in the city and will be recognized at the APA-NC Annual Conference in October.
