Flight from Charlotte evacuated after smoke fills cabin
A US Airways flight from Charlotte to Denver had to be evacuated after smoke filled the cabin on Wednesday.
While taxiing to the gate in Denver, the pilot of flight 445 was alerted to smoke in the cabin, according to Michelle Mohr, a spokeswoman for US Airways.
All 158 passengers and six crewmembers got off the plane and were taken to the terminal. According to flight-tracking service flightaware.com, the flight left Charlotte at 10:05 a.m. and arrived in Denver about four hours later.
Denver airport officials say there was no sign of any fire inside the plane, according to WBTV, the Observer’s news partner.
Mohr said the airline was in contact with the National Transportation Safety Board and the Federal Aviation Administration regarding the incident.
