Rain, storms moving into Charlotte region Wednesday

Scattered showers and thunderstorms are expected to move into the Charlotte region after 1 p.m. Wednesday, with the chance of thunderstorms persisting until 7 p.m. before turning to all showers, according to the National Weather Service.

A 30 percent chance of rain will remain Thursday before rising to a 50 percent chance Thursday night and an 80 percent chance all day and night on Friday.

Rain also is likely all day Saturday, with partly sunny skies finally returning on Sunday.

Consolation comes in the form of warm temperatures, at least for Wednesday, when the high is forecast to hit 76 degrees. The mercury was already at a comfy 61 degrees at 5 a.m.

Highs are expected to bounce around the rest of the week – 57 Thursday, 48 Friday, 63 Saturday and 66 Sunday, according to the latest NWS forecast at 5 a.m. Wednesday.
