1 person found shot on Old Statesville Road
Charlotte-Mecklenburg police officers are investigating a shooting in North Charlotte Wednesday afternoon.
Police received a call about an assault with a deadly weapon at 3:20 p.m. Wednesday on Old Statesville Road at W. W.T, Harris Boulevard, CMPD spokesman Keith Trietley said. Officers found a person at the scene who had been shot, he said.
Medic is also at the scene, and said one person was taken to Carolinas Medical Center with life-threatening injuries.
Police said the victim and suspect knew one another and had been in an altercation before the incident, reported The Observer’s news partner, WBTV.
Police said the two were driving separate cars westbound on WT Harris Boulevard when the suspect fired four shots at the victim’s car, hitting him in the lower back, WBTV reported. Police are looking for a small black sedan the shooter was reportedly driving, WBTV reported.
