Driver injured after crashing into apartment in the University City area Monday

A driver was injured after slamming into an apartment building in University City early Monday morning.

It happened at an apartment on John Kirk Drive.

Charlotte-Mecklenburg police say the driver fell asleep at the wheel and crashed into the building, damaging two units. The driver was not seriously injured.

No other injuries were reported.
