Kannapolis to buy 46 acres in downtown

The city of Kannapolis announced Thursday that it has reached an agreement to buy 46 acres of property from Dole Foods owner David Murdock, who opened the N.C. Research Campus in 2008 in downtown Kannapolis. The city, which plans to redevelop the area, will pay $5.55 million for the property, which has a tax value of approximately $23 million, according to the city. Lukas Johnson
