CMPD’s ‘Operation Medicine Drop’ nets 304 pounds of unused, expired medications

Charlotte-Mecklenburg police collected about 304 pounds of medicine during Saturday’s “Operation Medicine Drop,” police Capt. S.C. Voorhees said.

The program encourages residents to turn in their unused/expired medications at any of four designated sites – the Harris Teeters at 13000 S. Tryon St., 7852 Rea Road, 6701 Morrison Blvd. and 2720 W. Mallard Creek Church Road.

All of the medications, which included both controlled and non-controlled drugs, were turned into CMPD Property Control for immediate and proper disposal, Voorhees said.
