York County officers seize 13 dogs, some injured; man charged with animal cruelty
A 46-year-old man is charged with ill treatment of animals after injured dogs were found left without food and water, a Rock Hill police report states.
At 11:18 a.m. Monday, Rock Hill police responded to 545 Oates St. in regard to a civil issue concerning animals, the report says.
Samuel Wilson is charged with four counts of animal cruelty.
At Wilson’s home, police found a pit bull puppy that had no food or water in a wire cage covered in feces, the report states.
Police also found an emaciated black dog with flies on its face, which was covered in lacerations, the report says.
A rottweiler was chained to a metal stake in the yard and three more pit bulls were running freely on the property, the report says. One of the dogs had an injured leg, the report says.
Chain-linked fence kennels held five more dogs, the report says. The kennels were covered in feces and there was brown water, police say.
Officials also found a pregnant dog without food and clean water.
York County Animal Control took possession of 13 dogs, the report says.
Police met with Wilson, who took sole possession of all the dogs on the property, the report states. Wilson told police he was aiding some of the injured dogs himself.
Wilson was arrested and taken to the Rock Hill City Jail.
