John Kirk Drive is closed in both directions at University City Boulevard so crews can repair a sewer pipe under John Kirk Drive.
Drivers are being detoured onto Mallard Creek Road and then back onto John Kirk Drive.
In Cabarrus County, one lane of westbound N.C. 73 northwest of Concord is closed until 3 p.m., as bridge crews perform deck repair.
The site is about 1.5 miles west of Kannapolis Parkway.
Earlier Wednesday, police investigated a wreck involving a Charlotte Catholic school bus and a car, and a wreck involving a Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools bus and a car.
The Charlotte Catholic bus wreck happened about 6:50 a.m. at Fairview Road and Valencia Trail, police said. No injuries were reported.
About 8:40 a.m., CMS bus No. 1877 was rear-ended by a car near the intersection of Hickory Grove and Hobbs Hill roads in east Charlotte.
The bus serves Hickory Grove Elementary School and had 58 students aboard, CMS spokesman Brian Hacker said. No injuries were reported, he said.
Police responded to wrecks with injuries at West W.T. Harris Boulevard and IBM Drive in the University City area, at Statesville Avenue and northbound Interstate 85, and at Mallard Creek and Johnston Oehler roads.
Shortly before 8 a.m., another wreck with injuries happened at Fairview Road and South Park Drive.
A wreck also closed a lane of Interstate 77 southbound in Troutman, between Amity Hill Road, Exit 45, and U.S. 21, Exit 42. The wreck happened about 6:40 a.m.
