Observer File Art

At least two people were injured Friday night following a failed drug deal and shooting at a west Charlotte gas station.

Police said people in two cars met in the parking lot of an Exxon Station at 3215 Queen City Drive shortly before 9:30 p.m., when an altercation happened. Three people were in a Honda Accord to complete the drug sale.

Shots were fired in the parking lot, and the Honda Accord took off toward Little Rock Road at Interstate 85, police said.

The second car pursued the Honda and wrecked on the I-85 Service Road at 9:28 p.m, where more shots were fired. Police were not able to locate the wrecked car.

The occupants of the Honda continued to drive following the shooting, and traveled to a Kangaroo Express in Gaston County at 6441 Wilkinson Blvd. Belmont Police and Gaston County EMS responded to the location, where they found the car.

Two people from the car were taken to hospitals with life-threatening injuries.

Police said the driver of the Honda wasn’t injured, and is being interviewed by Charlotte-Mecklenburg police detectives.
