Monroe police search for answers in teen’s shooting death
Monroe police are working with the State Bureau of Investigation and the Union County district attorney’s office on a shooting Sunday that left a 17-year-old dead.
Officers found Kalique Farmer of Monroe with a gunshot wound at the intersection of Hough and Everette streets at 3 p.m. Sunday. He was pronounced dead at a local hospital.
Interviews with potential witnesses and people who knew Farmer continued Monday, the city said in a statement. Police are awaiting a fully autopsy report to learn more, including the type of weapon used.
Investigators told WBTV that Farmer did not live in the area but believe he was in the neighborhood for a cookout.
Police said they aren’t releasing any possible motives for the shooting. They ask people who have information on the incident to call investigators at (704) 282-4700.
