Teen struck by car, killed on I-40 in Catawba County

A man was killed after being struck by a car in Catawba County Wednesday night.

Highway Patrol said 18-year-old Jose Jorge Lopez Torres was hit around 10:43 p.m. on Interstate 40 westbound.

The teen appeared to be injured before he was struck and killed, troopers say.

Troopers said the woman who struck Torres remained on the scene. The crash remains under investigation. No charges have been filed.
